Butterfly and Lilies Wine Glass

Lovely tall red wine glass, engraved with a combination of handheld drill and hand engraving, using a variety of abrasives to obtain the shaded effects.

Unfortunately the glass had been sent to the recipient before I checked the photos I had taken so I was unable to get better photos of the engraving, this photo really does not do the engraving justice.

Check out the Gallery Page to see more examples of my engraving.

NZ Rail Beer Handle

Shaded engraving techniques were used to give the appearance of weaving of the lettering in the NZR logo (inspired by an historic NZ Rail hat badge).  This was engraved for a very dear friend of mine, who is an NZ Rail enthusiast.

All engraving was completed using a hand held drill and a variety of different abrasives.

Check out the Gallery Page to see more examples of my engraving.

Delivered to Christchurch This Morning

Engraved for a special Nanna in Christchurch.

I just have to share the feedback recieved from the lovely customer who ordered this glass (this is what makes engraving such a pleasure to do):

"My nannoo just rang me in tears! She was so amazed!!!
She absolutely loves it!!!! Thank you soooo much!!! It bought tears to my eyes hearing her!!"

Check out the Gallery page to see more items engraved by Jean.

Frog K9 Crystal Paperweight

K9 Crystal Paperweight (80 x 80 x 35mm) engraved with a frog on a lily pad, and a water lily flower.

This little guy was particularly challenging to get a good photo of as he has been engraved on the bottom of a half sphere crystal paperweight the shape of the top magnifies the engraving and plays havoc with light when trying to photographk.  The inserted photo of the bottom of the paperweight shows how the lily and lily pad have actually been engraved complete, although this doesn't show in the main photo.

Lead Free Crystal Champagne Flute (shaded engraving)

My latest shaded engraving on a Riserva Lead Free Crystal Champagne Flute.

This is the first engraving completed on a lead free crystal glass, I tried out some new black rubber abrasive wheels on it too.

Lead free crystal is a very hard surface which allows for shallow engraving and excellent shading.  I am really happy with the result.

Celebrating Waihi (our town)

Waihi Key Chains are now available from the Waihi Visitors/Information Centre at the top of town across the road from our replica Poppet Head.

Drill engraved with Waihi, NZ on the front and the Poppet Head on the back (engraved using shading techniques to give the appearance of depth in the engraving).

Waihi is an historic gold mining town, being mined again today, the open pit (located right in town) has become quite a tourist attraction.

The replica Poppet Head was erected at the top of town towards the end of the year 2000 and dedicated to the memory of those who have made Waihi what it is today, particularly the underground miners of old.

Custom Designed Cake Topper

Custom design for a young lady who is right into Kombie Vans. Her date of birth was used for the van's number plate, and "21" in place of the usual VW emblem.  This was really fun both to design and to engrave!!  Has just been added to the Gallery page (link above).
